Disclosing pricing right from the start can seem daunting. The fact is, couples are looking for pricing when they’re serious about planning their wedding day and gatekeeping it until the very end can hurt more than you think.
“I don’t want our business to be compared to others”…
Honestly, it will be. Majority of couples getting married take on a new best friend when they’re in the planning stages — a spreadsheet. Whether you like it or not, your business is likely placed right beside another as a couple tries to determine what to go with. Almost every digital wedding planning tool on the internet includes a space to compare multiple businesses to find what’s the best fit. Reality is, you want someone who will choose your business even after they know the price tag.
Which leads us into our next point…
Budget.
Let’s take a step back for a second. How many emails do you have to answer that ask the same question “Can you send me pricing?”. Listen, we completely understand that pricing can vary based on customization, guest count, location, etc. (In fact, we’ve even included it in our disclaimer!). That being said, a “starting at” rate, "popular package”, or similar can go a LONG way. Having your pricing be easy to find helps to ensure that you have less pricing inquiry emails and more “when can I book a call?” messages from people who already know your price point and want to start a conversation.
People value transparency and convenience.
When planning a wedding there are a lot of thing to consider, but the number one thing is budget. Every venue, service, and vendor will ask - “what’s your budget?”. If budget is something that is to be discussed at the very beginning, then it’s worth putting out the information prior to that conversation. If someone’s budget for their venue is $9,500 and your pricing starts at $20,000 for the weekend - why waste everyone’s time?
We live in the era of convienence. Everything is a click (or two) away. When it comes to giving couples information they can use to save time when planning their wedding, we say, it’s a no brainer!
